Because our skin is constantly being exposed to dead cells, it’s important that we take steps to remove them and exfoliate regularly. Removing extra layers of dead cells can help prevent breakouts and dullness, and also boost your skin’s appearance overall. The ingredients in this scrub will remove the top layer of dead cells with ease, as well as moisturize the rest of your skin. With ingredients like sugar, olive oil, and some other items you probably have in your kitchen, you can create a variety of scrubs for your body, face, and lips.
Sweet Vanilla Sugar and Olive Oil Scrub
Combine the olive oil, honey, vanilla extract, and vitamin E oil. Add ¼ cup (50 g) of olive oil, 2 tablespoons (25 g) of honey, ¼ teaspoon (1 ml) of vanilla extract, and ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) of vitamin E oil to a small bowl. Use a spoon to thoroughly mix all ingredients together.
Add the sugars. Once all of the liquid ingredients are mixed together in a thick paste, stir in ½ cup (80 g) of brown sugar and ½ cup (85 g) of granulated sugar.
Apply the scrub to your skin in circular motions. When you’re ready to use the scrub, gently massage it into your skin. Work in circular motions and avoid scrubbing too hard as not doing so can irritate your sensitive skin.[5]Wash off the scrub with water after massaging it into your skin. After rinsing off the scrub from your skin with warm water or cool water depending on your preference for moisture at this point, pat dry with a clean towel.[7]
Sugar and Olive Oil Scrub
Place the olive oil, honey and sugar into a plastic or glass jar. Add the lid and mix well. Massage it gently into your skin for approximately 60 seconds. Then, rinse it off with warm water to finish up. Pat your skin dry and you’re done!Mix the olive oil, honey and sugar. When the ingredients are well-combined, massage in a lotion or scrub onto your skin for about a minute to exfoliate. Rinse it off with warm water, pat your skin dry and that’s it!
Sugar, Olive Oil, and Strawberry Facial Scrub
Mix the sugar and olive oil. Add ½ cup (115 g) of sugar and ¼ cup (59 ml) of olive oil to a small bowl. Attach an immersion blender to the bowl, and carefully stir in chopped berries until fully blended. When the sugar and oil are mixed, stir in 2-3 simmered strawberries until just combined. Transfer to a covered container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. When all ingredients are combined, use your fingers or a spoon to rub into skin while they’re still warm. Massage away dead skin cells with circular motions, then rinse off with water and pat dry. After you’ve applied the scrub, wash it off with warm water using a clean towel. Apply your usual serum, moisturizer, or other treatment products over the moistened area.
Brown Sugar and Olive Oil Lip Scrub
To make sugar scrub, combine 1 tablespoon (12.5 g) of brown sugar, ½ tablespoon (7.5 ml) of olive oil, and 12.5 g / 7.5 mL of water in a small bowl or dish. Stir the three ingredients together until they’re fully blended.[16]Rub the sugar scrub into your lips; when it becomes hard to hold, use your finger to gently apply it to all lip areas while massaging it in for approximately 30 to 60 seconds.[17]Wipe away excess sugar from your lips with a damp washcloth before drying off with a dry cloth.[18]In a small bowl or dish, add the brown sugar and olive oil, stirring them together until fully blended. Rub the scrub mix into your lips for about 30-60 seconds, until that dead skin is sloughed off with an exfoliating effect. After that, it’s time to wipe away all of the scrub content with warm water. You’ll know you’ve finished because your lips should feel soft and smooth.
